Making Paper Rosettes!

I posted some cards on the Cricut Message board that had paper rosettes on them.  I was asked how they were made.  Here is a visual tutorial with step-by-step instructions.

Making rosettes is so easy using the MS Score Board.

I follow these directions step-by-step and it works for me everytime!

**cut a strip of paper 12 inches X 1 1/4 inches (the rosette will be double whatever width you make the strip...experiment with 1/2 inches, 1 inch, etc).  This will make a 2 1/2 inch rosette.

**punch a 1 inch circle and put several glue dots on the paper (set aside)
**lightly tape two edges of the paper strip to the top of the score board (use removable tape, if possible, because you will be taking the tape off)

**score the paper strip at 1/2 inch intervels all the way to the end

**flip the paper over (keep the paper in the same position, just flip it over)
**then score the paper strip at 1/4 inch intervals all the way to the end

**by flipping the paper and scoring in the fashion, you will find that folding the paper IS SO MUCH EASIER!

Special word of caution here...the Martha Stewart Score Board has a slight gap between the left edge of the ruler and where the measurement actually begins.  Please make note of this, or your scored strip of paper will not be uniform!

**accordian fold the paper.  Note the circle with glue dots.

**I use 1/8 inch tacky tape on one end of the paper and press the other end to it.  Tacky Tape will hold the ends together...no matter what!!

**lightly press the circle of paper down.  I lay the front side down and work from the back.  Work with the rosette until you get the folds in a circle that you like

**Hold the rosette in place and press the circle with glue dots over the center of the rosette.  Press this firmly and be sure you have enough glue dots to hold the center in place.

**Turn the rosette over and there you have it...a beautiful rosette to use as you like!

**decorate the center as you wish!

This card was created using the Cricut Cartridge "Wild Card".  It is the Doiley Card.  I have used lots of different embellishments on this card...

Using My Stash!

I decided to create a set of cards using only what I had in my craftroom.  What fun it was to go through my embellishments, stickers, fibers, Cricut cuts, stamps, and papers to find just the right adornment for the cards!

The 4x4 notecards were created using paper scraps given to me.  The notecards fit an A2 envelope.

The rosettes were made using the Martha Stewart Score Board.  Stampin' Up stamp was used for the sentiment.

The frames were created using a Nestibility die in the Cuttlebug.  I bought the sentiment stamp at a craft store.

The scalloped frame was from a Nestibility die using the Cuttlebug.  The stamp was from a craft store.  The tiny flower was colored using a Copic Marker.

The "inchie" stamps were from a local craft store.

The butterflies are made with Vellum that was embossed with the 13" "Butterfly" Embossing Folder by Cuttlebug.  The butterflies were cut out and adhered with dimensional tape strips and adorned with tiny gems.  The sentiment stamp is from Stampin' Up.

I gave this set of "Thank You" cards to a friend of mine that has been hospitalized for 2 months.  She is now home and recovering slowly.  When her health has improved, she can send these cards; however, until then, I hope she will enjoy looking at them!







A Flurry of Butterflies!

I created this 12"x12" wall hanging using frames from Cricut Cartridge "Accents Essentials", the background plant from Cricut Cartridge "Storybook", and the butterflies from the 13" Cuttlebug Border Embossing Folder.  The quote is from the "Quote Garden" website.

The butterflies were made by embossing Vellum and cutting out the images with scissors.  The butterflies were attached with dimensional glue strips and decorated with gems.

2.  I use to collect Blue Willow china.  I have so much now, I don't need another piece!

3.  Ironing is not one of my favorite things to do.  I let it collect and then do it all about every 6-8 months.  It takes all day to iron everything!

4.  When I was in my forties, I wore "full-metal" braces on my teeth for 3 years and 8 months!  I have TMJ!  This relieved my jaw pain, but it sure did take a long time!

5.  My son and I were wearing braces on our teeth at the same time!

6.  I have been known to leave our Christmas tree up until February!

7.  I lost weight because I got tired of my husband asking me to sit on the back of his truck to give it enough traction to get up the hill!

A Fun Dress Card!

This Dress Card was featured in the Jan/Feb 2011 PaperCraft Magazine on page 61.  The template is available on-line through the PaperCraft Website.  I used the dress as part of a card front.  The original dress is a stand alone card.
