My Life Scripture

Philippians 4:4-7 (ESV English Standard Version) Holy Bible
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let the reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds through Christ Jesus.

A Birthday Celebration!

Thank you for participating in the drawing!
Contest is now closed!

Today is my birthday and I want to share the celebration with you!
The one and only birthday party that I have had in my life happened in Kindergarten!
It was a complete surprise!  I remember the party had an Easter theme and we had tiny biscuits with lots of butter and Jelly Beans!  This was one of the most exciting events in my young life.  Our family was large and we didn't have money for birthday parties, so this was a momenteous event in my life!  I felt so special!

On Sunday, April 1, my daughter is hosting another Birthday Celebration for me!
We are having a Sunday Dinner with my friends and family in the old farmhouse that has been in our family for generations!  This will be another special day for me!

I want to know your special Birthday Celebration moment!
Please tell me about one of YOUR special Birthday Celebration moments!
Post your story below!  I can't wait to read your story!

Thank you for being a follower of my blog!  All of you are so special to me!
Become a follower of my blog and post your story by Wednesday, April 4, 2012.  On Thursday, April 5, I will randomly choose a winner to receive these Cuttlebug Embossing Folders.  The winner will be chosen from followers of my blog that shared their special stories.  I will publish the winner on Friday, April 6 with contact information.
The winner has a week to claim the prize.

Contest Closed!
Thank you for participating!

I will leave you with a few more pictures of my recent visit to
Jekyll Island, Georgia!
Another beautiful sunrise over the marshes!
Patiently waiting for breakfast!
Have a wonderful day!  Thank you for visiting my blog and be sure to tell us about your
Birthday Celebration Memory!

I hope you have a wonderful birthday party!

Like you, I grew up in a large family with no money for parties. To this day I've never had one. But I'm okay without the parties as long as I just keep having birthdays!

I remember my 13th birthday because my grandmother died on that day. I know it sounds tragic and in some ways it was. She was sick and had colon cancer and it was time but I am grateful she died on my birthday because I always think of her that day and all I have are pleasant memories.

I think the birthday that stood out the most is my 40th! It fell on a Sunday. When I went to church my teenage children at the time shared with their friends so I had well wishes from the youth group all the way up through to the seniors! Then hubby had a little family dinner party and it was just a great time when I was trying to face one of those hard 0 years.
I sure hope you have a blessed day with plenty of well wishes from loved ones! oh and goodies galore too! Have a blessed year.

Happy Birthday to you! I hope your day is extra special and wonderful!

I don't really have a "specific" Birthday that I have a fond memory of. I just really loved that I had a special Birthday plate I got to use on my Birthday every year. Seems silly to love a plate that much but it really made me feel so special!

I don't recall ever having an actual birthday party in my honor, but my sisters have treated me to a tea party to celebrate my birthday. But my most memorable birthday was spent in Hawaii! My husband and I went there to celebrate my 50th birthday.

My most special birthday was my 21st birthday. My step-mom made me my very first birthday cake and she surprised me with one of her cocker spaniel puppies from her prize winning pair Suzy and Jackson. I named my puppy Odie and he lived a long happy life with me and my family. I will always have him in my heart and I will always love my step-mom just like I do my mom. I hope you have and continue to have beautiful birthdays!!

My most recent memorable birthday was actually this year! After the year I had last year (the tornado, and then Christmas being a big let down)I was feeling kinda down about holidays and my birthday. So, since my birthday fell on a Monday and I had school, my mom decided to do my birthday breakfast on Sunday morning and it was delicious! I got pancakes and hash browns and bacon. Then, on Monday, before I went to school, my mom had several presents waiting for me on the dining table. The card she got me was very sweet and I received some of the greatest gifts! After school, my mom took me out to lunch and to do some shopping, just having some mommy/daughter time. Then to finish the night off, we all went out to dinner and came back for cake!

It was just a really nice day and filled me with hope for the upcoming year :)

Happy Birthday to YOU! YAY! What a fun question! I don't remember what age I was, but the Dukes of Hazzard was my favorite show. My Mom had a little birthday party with family and friends. We had a nice dinner and some gifts, but I don't remember any of the gifts. My Mom had taken all day, while we were in school, and hand decorated the coolest birthday cake you have ever seen! She found a collector set of Dukes of Hazzard hot wheels (still have it) with all of the character's cars. She had buildings like the old shacks they would race around, trees, etc. She even had the General Lee jumping over a dry river bank! Had Roscoe's police car spinning rocks and even had a tape recorder (not easy to conceal back then) hidden under the cake that was playing banjo music and yelling Yee Haw! It was the coolest thing I had ever seen. Since, we have all decorated lots of cakes, but nothing compared to that one and probably never will. On my 37th birthday, the cast of the Dukes of Hazzard came to town around my birthday and I didn't even know it. We all loaded up in the van to head to dinner when we got out town, she acted like she had to stop at a store or something on the way. Well, what a big surprise when I got to meet the original Daisy, Roscoe, Cleetus and several more of the cast. They even had cars from the show at the event. What fun! Wow. Sorry for the novel! Happy Birthday!

Oh boy, Birthday memories? I guess my favorite birthday memory was when I turned 12 & my parents took our whole family (4children) to Disney World in Orlando. It was in the 70's & parts of Disney weren't even built yet. They were working on the Big tree based on Robinson Crusoe....Disney at that time was much smaller than it is now, but to a 12 yr. old it was out of this world. :)
My birthday is actually on April 3rd. That was one of my favorite birthdays. Thanks so much for having this giveaway.

Thanks Janis aka ~JD~

Happy Birthday.
My special birthday was my 19th birthday; I was a senior in high school. my older sister was pregnant with her first child and called my mom before I left for school to tell her she was in labor! I was so excited but had to go to school anyway. All day, every chance I got I ran to the payphone and called the hospital to see if the baby had been born. I rushed to the hospital after school in time to be there for my niece's birth. We are close to this day.

Happy Birthday!! My most memorable birthday was 5th grade. It was also my one and only party as a child and it was the best party! I can remember almost everything about it! Thanks for sharing your fun pics, we visit Atlanta every year!

Happy Birthday Carolyn. March Birthdays are the best aren't they??? I celebrate the whole month of March and we are going out to eat tonight!

My most interesting memory was my Sweet 16 Party. My parents rented a hall and made me a surprise boy/girl dance party with all my friends. The pictures were great! The next day, I missed my first day of school since Kindergarten and the whole week after that! My mom had to call all the families to say they were exposed to Chicken Pox! Yup...I had perfect attendance until that week. I caught it from my little brother who was 4 at the time and caught it in preschool 2 weeks before. I actually won a speech contest, telling that story my senior year.

Enjoy your dinner at your daughters.

Happy (belated) Birthday to you. For my fortieth birthday, I was fortunate enough to have two wonderful birthday trips. The first was a couples trip to Vegas with dear friends and the second was a family trip with my husband and two daughters to San Antonio. The celebrations spanned a couple of months and were wonderful. Wish I could celebrate each year that way.

My birthday memories. We all love chocolate and of course that means a chocolate cake. Ours is a favorite my mom used to make for special occasions. It is called the chocolate Pinwheel cake. It is 4 layers and each layer has dark chocolate swirled into it like a pinwheel. The cake isn't frosted but filled with chocolate foamy filling...almost like a chocolate twinky filling....YUMMMMM. My 40th was my favorite birthday celebration so far. I turned 40 on a Sunday. It was also Mother's Day. It was also my son's High School Graduation day. I was terrified of a surprise party, so I planned my own :) We had graduation open house from 4~6 and my party from 6 on the night before. It was great having so many friends and family members in the same place!

Well Happy Birthday-----it is my grandsons birthday today too. The birthday I remember most is when I was about 12. My mother took a few friends and myself to the beach (we lived in Wiscinsin (Lake Michigan). We were all having cake at a picnic table and everyone at the same time got up from the left side of the table, and the table tipped, and the cake landed on one of my friends. We have laughed about the beach party for years----Nancy

Happy, Happy BIRTHDAY Carolyn!!!! How fun for you! My favorite Birthday memory was when I was 12 and I sooo desperately wanted a doll house! My parents made me a cake and a special birthday dinner and they gave me this small box.... and it just had a family in it... And I was like... WHAT???? What the heck??? and I thought nooo doll house... bummer..... Well the next thing you know I was told to go to the Kitchen and there in the middle of the kitchen sat a BIG BEAUTIFUL WOODEN DOLL HOUSE! I was tickled pink! (And I don't even like pink) LOL But it was the best surprise ever!!! MY parents asked me about the little family I got and I told them I thought they were crazy for giving me it cause I didn't ask for a little family... and I never put the 2 and 2 together! LOL Sooo it was a great little trick/surprise for me! :o)

Carolyn I hope you had a wonderful birthday! My favorite memory was when I was 13. My grandparents lived upstairs in our 2 family home and my grandma played the piano. I'd always wanted a piano but my parents couldn't afford to buy me one. When I came home from school that day they were just moving grandma's piano into our home I cried thinking grandma was feeling sorry for me and giving her's up for that reason, come to find out she got a new small organ and I had the best present ever.

My favorite moment, wasn't at a party or celebration at all, though it was my birthday. When I turned 16, I didn't have a party to celebrate. I remember that day was just a regular day like the others, with just some birthday greetings. But that night I was sitting at the kitchen table alone, eating my late dinner (basketball practice had run late) and reading a book (we all read at the table). I heard the front door and knew my dad had gotten home from work, my mom was in the living room, so I didn't get up. After a few moments my dad came to find me - I thought he was coming to the kitchen to get his supper - but he walked in with a small cardboard box that had a "Happy 16th Birthday" balloon attached to it. Inside was a ceramic heart-shaped bank, a vase with three red roses that the balloon was attached, and a bag of Hershey's miniatures(favorites of his and mine). He said "Happy Birthday. You only turn 16 once and everyone should get something for their 16th birthday."
Those roses lasted two weeks and bloomed more fully than I have ever seen a store-bought rose bloom.
20 years later and I still have that ceramic bank, and though I no longer have my dad, my memories are still here. It is one of my special memories of him.

My favorite birthday celebration memory was my 22nd birthday. It wasn't anything super special but my brother and my sister in law made me dinner. I love fish but hate cooking it mainly because of the smell staying the house, so they made me fish for my birthday dinner. I've always been the type to rather spend my birthday just having dinner with my family then having a big party or anything. It was a very thoughtful thing for them to do for me. and it meant a lot that they made me dinner.
