What a beautiful way to start another day of....

This past weekend I was invited to a crop in North Carolina!  What a wonderful weekend we had as we cropped, made new friendships, enjoyed good food, and shared new tips and techniques!  I feel so honored to be included in the wonderful group of talented papercrafters!

 

I was asked to demonstrate how to use the Twistable Crayola Crayons for inking and how to create rolled flowers that are featured on the "Artiste" Close to My Heart Cricut Cartridge.  I used the "Artiste" cartridge to make purse holders for the items needed for the projects.

The purse image is on page 41 in the handbook.  I used the Gypsy to layout the purse on a 12x12 inch Cricut Mat and a 12x24 inch Cricut Mat.

This is the 12x12 inch mat layout.  A larger purse could be created by laying the image diagonally on the mat.  I added an extra pocket to this purse.

This is the 12x24 inch mat layout.  I placed a 12 x 18 inch sheet of cardstock on the mat and a 6 x 12 inch piece of coordinating cardstock on the mat.

I used sheets from a Heidi Grace 12x18 inch paper pad.  "Tuesday Morning" retail store carries these paper pads.  I have collected several styles.  The paper is wonderful and each pad contains several types of paper and lots of templates and projects.

Each person at the crop received one of the Purse Holders.  The holder contained a pack of Twistable Crayola Crayons, a piece of cotton jersey, white paper, three spiral flowers, and several little embellishments.  Here is a link for using the crayons for inking...

I am a lazy papercrafter!

I love to have all my supplies and equipment nearby!

When working on a project, I like to sit down.  I use my rolling chair to move around!  This chair was bought at a yard sale for $5.00!!

This is my main work area.  I bought the mat at Walmart and it has been well used!  The tools and equipment that I use most are located in this area.

A small 3-drawer unit holds sharp tools, adhesive, tweezers, and other items.  The drawer unit sits on a small rack.  Under the rack I keep a package of baby wipes and my camera.

On top of the drawer unit is a lamp with two electrical outlets.  The lamp is from Lowe's.  It has a clear light cover that I put scrapbook paper between the layers.  This is a fun way to decorte the light fixture.  The tv remote is kept on top of the drawer unit.  I would lose the remote if left on the table top!

The wooden holder is very old!  It was bought at an antique store several years ago.  Adhesives, scissors, a small paper trimmer, ruler, and small paper packs are kept handy.  The pink ATG gun fits into one of the slots.

Moving on around my work area....

The wooden table is a small dining table that is the perfect size for my rolling chair.  The white table is a 5-foot plastic table from Walmart.  It folds in half for easy storage and carrying.  There is a wire magazine rack between the wooden holder and pen holder.  This holds the latest editions of magazines and other flat items.

This small green metal cabinet is from a local art supply store.  I bought it for $5.00 and it holds my favorite pens/markers.  The slots are a perfect fit for Copic Markers, Sharpie Markers, Embossing Markers, and other assorted pens.

The yellow box holds 'gems' and 'jewels'!  Paper flowers and a container of ribbon and twine are kept easily available on top of the pen/marker cabinet.

I pull the E2 AE forward, add the mat, and cut away!  My Gypsy and E2 are best friends!

Everybody needs a little 'Smooch'!!

The holder is a make-up caddy that I received many years ago.  It is perfect for the little containers!  The container sits on the window ledge and the blinds fit perfectly behind it!

The cardboard box holds paper scraps and large paper trimmer.  Solid colored cardstock is under the box.  The drawer units hold embellishments and paper punches.  The PO box has small DCWV paper packs.

To the left of my chair is a drawer unit that holds paper punches, plain notecard/envelopes,  and larger DCWV paper pads.  My garbage can is usually full of stuff!

By rolling my chair around, I can open this cabinet.  The black crates hold large stickers and embellishments.  Just under these crates are two orange boxes that hold small stickers and embellishments.

The top of the cabinet holds brads, ribbons, buttons, twine, embellishments.  All are in sectioned boxes and labeled.

Behind my chair is the Cuttlebug area.  I have Cuttlebug supplies and equiment in the 3-drawer unit.  All the dies and folders are in the dark 2-drawer cabinet.  This counter also has an Expression wearing its beautiful cover by Lena!  Shelves overhead and underneath hold stamps, ink, scrap paper, and lots of other equipment and supplies.

Artiste CTMH Cricut Cartridge Cards

Close to My Heart "Artiste" Cricut Cartridge, ProvoCraft Gypsy (hand-held design tool), and the Cricut Expression 2 Anniversary Edition were used to create 4 greeting cards.

The main patterned paper was from a stack by Colorbok.

The patterned paper had a very white back.  I wanted to tone down the white.  I used the inking technique featuring the Twistable Crayola Crayons.  Click here for directions...

The center paper has been inked.  The inking is darker than shown in the photo.

Leaves and Accent flower are cut from a 7 inch x 7 inch piece of green paper.

The 7x7 square was used to cut the 12x12 paper to fit the mat.

"Dusty Plum" ink by ColorBox was used to ink the bright/light pink paper.

The Spiral Flowers were created by rolling the paper and glue on the bottom to hold the flower in place.

The background papers for the cards were created using the Cuttlebug All-in-One Embossing folder "Thank You"

Coordinating solid colored cardstock was embossed to be used as the background.

Swirls and Flourishes were added to the cards using the

CTMH "Art Philosophy" Cricut Cartridge, Gypsy, and

Cricut Expression 2 Anniversary Edition.

Card measures 5 inch x 7 inches

Paper is layered, flourishes added to the corners, 3 flowers, and sheer ribbon are used.  Flourishes are cut and used as accent pieces.
