My Life Scripture

Philippians 4:4-7 (ESV English Standard Version) Holy Bible
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let the reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds through Christ Jesus.

Spring Cottage Birthday ZPlus Card

There is a lot to share today!
This is a Birthday Card made using the Circut Cartridge "Spring Cottage".
The card is a ZPlus card!  I hope you enjoy this tutorial!
A Z Card is a card that opens in a zig-zag fashion with lots of little squares and rectangles.  Those that are familiar with this type of card have probably already seen what makes this card different.  Read on for more info...
This Z Card begins with a 5 1/2 inch x 12 inch piece of cardstock
Lay the cardstock horizontally on a scoreboard.  Score at 2 inches, 4 inches, 8 inches, and 10 inches.  I have marked the score lines with blue ink so the score marks are easily seen.  The blue ink lines are for demonstration purposes only.
Turn the cardstock vertically on the score board.  Using a metal ruler measure in from both long edges 1 1/2 inches.  Using a craft knife, cut a straight slit between the 2 inch score and the 10 inch score, as shown with the white lines above.  The white lines are for demonstration purposes only.
Now it is time to fold the scored lines.  This can be a little confusing.  I have laid the folded card on its side for better visibility.  Notice the top and bottom layers are more narrow than the middle layer.  The top and bottom layers are folded in the same direction.  Fold the middle layer in the opposite direction.  I had to practice a couple of times before I got the technique down.  Once I understood the folds, everything just folded together very well!
Here is a view looking down on the card.  Notice the top and bottom layers are folded the same.  It is the middle layer that is different.
This is another view of the folded card.
Now for the "PLUS" part!  I wanted a larger front for this card.  I cut an additional piece of cardstock the same size as the left section.
I put double-sided tape on the right side.
Lined up the edges and adhered the extra piece of cardstock to the front.  Now I have a complete card front to decorate.  This is the card completely folded.
I cut a piece of white cardstock slightly smaller than the card front.  I wanted an outside scene. To create the scene, I used ColorBox inks to give the illusion of an outside scene.  This was the fun part of the card!  I rubbed the ink on the paper to show sky, mountains, grass, etc.
With a few stripes of dark brown and green and I had a tree!
The fountain is an image from the Circut Cartridge "Spring Cottage".
I cut the parts of the image 3 times.  I noticed that the top lid of this ColorBox ink set had fallen off.  The top ink pad was just about dry.  There was enough ink to dull the white on the fountain.  The flowing water is colored using a silver glitter pen.  The water is Tim Holtz Distress Stickles "Faded Jeans".  The extra white fountain will be used on another project.
I found this little flower punch in the $1.00 bin at Michaels Craft Store.  I have used it frequently!  It was perfect for the little flowers around the water fountain.
To create the flowers, I indented the flowers and then added just a dab of 'Smooch'.
I put a dot of glue on the back of each flower and glued it to the card front and around the base of the fountain.
I added dimension to the card by using foam tape to glue the fountain to the card front.  There are 3 layers to each section of the water fountain to give it depth.
Close up view of the front.  All the outside scenes were created using the ColorBox ink pads.  The sentiments were stamped on Vellum and then adhered to the card.  I left a small section blank for comments/signature.
Another close up of the card.
A view of the ZPlus Card completely open.  When turned over the back is completely blank.  I added a white piece of cardstock to the back for additional comments.

Chevron Print Card Set

This card set was made using Michaels Craft Store "Chevron" prints in the "Recollections" paper collection.
The package contains 5 different 'Chevron' designs with 5 of each design.
The package sells for $4.00 but was on sale for $2.50 when I purchased it.
This A2 card uses the Tim Holtz 'Caged Bird' cutting die.  Gold twine and gemstones are used.
I cut two birdcages, put the bird in the middle and used dimensional foam tape to give depth.
A stamped sentiment, ribbon, and little gemstone bling is used for this A2 card.
It is all about color!  The Tim Holtz rosette die, Martha Stewart 'Button' paper punch, blue embroidery thread, and a Stampin' Up sentiment were used on this card.
Pre-made chipboard flower/butterfly stickers and a Close to My Heart sentiment were used on this A2 card.
Tim Holtz rosette die, a purple button, white embrodiery thread, a ribbon, and a sentiment were used on this card.  The 'Chevron' print was a border on the paper.
The cards will be sold as a set of 6 cards and envelopes.  There are only 5 designs.  I used a small piece of each design on this card.  The card is larger than the other 5 and is created on a black front opening card base (also from Michaels).  I cut slits on either side of the front to slide the ribbon through.
Open card
I covered the back of the inside with white paper.  This hides the ribbon and gives a place to write.  I leave the ribbon untied so the person that purchases the set can tie it as they like.
The set will be packaged in this small cloth bag that I decorated.
Click here for more information about the bag and how the cards are packaged for sale..

Animal Prints Card Set using Michaels Craft Store Paper

I created this card set yesterday using.....
This pack of patterned paper from Michaels Craft Store!
The paper pack normally sales for $4.00, but right now it is $2.50.  It has 5 sheets of each design.  This is Michaels "Animal Prints Recollection" series.
All the paper is from Michaels.  The card is A2.
Sentiment...I used the Cricut Gel Pens to write the sentiment and then cut it out with scissors. The center is colored with Copic Marker.  Ribbon from Michaels
Ribbon Buckle is from my stash.  I covered it with tiny black and blue flowers (from Michaels) and added a black rhinestone to the center.
A2 card
Not sure where I got the rhinestone buckle.  The sentiment is drawn with Circut Gel Markers using the Cricut Create.  Then the sentiment is cut out using scissors.
The background of the sentiment is inked using the crayon method...shown here...
The ribbon buckle was made using a Spellbinders die "Ribbon Buckles".  There are 9 different buckles in this set.  I covered the buckle with clear pigment ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.  This made the buckle easier to slide the ribbon through without tearing.  The flower gem is from "Recollections" at Michaels Craft Store
A2 card
The butterfly brad is from my stash.  I am not sure where I got it.
A2 card
The ribbon buckle is from the Spellbinders die set "Ribbon Buckles".  It has been heat embossed with clear powder.  The tiny blue flower is from Michaels Craft Store.  The border is a paper punch from EK Success.  The sentiment is written using a Circut Gel Pen and the Cricut Create.
Square card...larger than an A2
I put 6 cards in my sets, but there were only 5 different patterned papers.  I decided to create a card using all five of the patterns.  This is a front opening card that I bought in a package from Joanns Craft Store.  You can see how I cut strips of the paper and glued them to a white background.  There are slits on either side of the front openings to allow the ribbon to come through on the front.
Inside card
I glued a layer of white paper to the inside of the card to...
*hide the ribbon and hold the ribbon in place
*provide a place to write a note
The holder of the card set is a small craft bag that I found at Walmart.
I decorated the front.  The next step is to package the cards to sell.
Please see this post for more information about the small bag and how I prepare my card sets to sell.

I am working on a card set using Michaels Craft Store "Recollection" patterned paper....
